Have fun with fondue and jazz at Delheim
There is nothing quite like a good meal paired with equally good wine - now add some jazzy sounds to the equation and you have the perfect setting. Delheim Wine Estate's popular jazz and fondue event is making a return just as the cold weather makes an exit.
If you are a jazz lover, wine enthusiast or a foodie then this event is for you, and if you are into all three this is a dream come true!
When: 23 August - 25 August 2019
Where: Delheim Estate
Cost: R350 per person. Reservations are required and can be done online through Quicket
Experience the intimacy of a jazz club in a wine cellar over lunch. The event offers a selection of amazing cheeses and wines courtesy of the Stellenbosch winery.
On the tasty side of things, you will be treated to a hot pot of melted cheese along with fresh bread and vegetables for dipping. Optional extras are available for order at an additional cost. You can have a taste of the starters, meats or desserts or wash it down with some good, strong coffee.
Wines will be on sale by the glass or bottle, but it won't be just any wine - the Delheim's exclusive Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 will be available. This wine is soulmates with cheese, making it perfect opportunity to enjoy a glass or take home a bottle to share with friends at your next dinner party.
On the music side, The Cape Town Music Academy and the Jazz in The Native Yards series make a perfect pairing just like the cheese and wine. They have come together once again to bring an exciting lineup of some of the most gifted jazz musicians.
"The Jazz & Fondue series is a wonderful initiative that not only gives our jazz musicians a platform to perform but also exposes local and international guests to recognize and enjoy the great local music talent that South Africa has to offer," says the Cape Town Music Academy program manager Vicky Davis about the partnership.
The line-up for the Delheim Jazz & Fondue events features:
- George Weiner and the Little Giants Alumni (saxophone, trumpet, guitar)
- Darren English Trio (trumpet)
- Mike Rossi Quartet (saxophone)
- Thembelihle Dunjana Quartet (piano)
- Tumi Pheto Quintet (trumpet)
- Buddy Wells Quartet (saxophone)
- John Hassan (percussions)
- Ramon Alexander
- Schalk Joubert
- Bongani Sotshononda and Babalwa Meintjies (vocals and marimba)
Expect to hear sounds from some of your favorite jazz legends like Winston Mankunku Ngozi, Robbie Jansen, and Chris McGregor, reimagined by younger musicians playing in the background as you enjoy a hearty meal.
Local's always lekker, so enjoy the finest South African music and wine and hang out with other jazz aficionados on this jam-packed weekend.
