Cape Town Spring events 2019: From flying a kite for charity to an all-you-can-eat chocolate extravaganza

Spring 2019 brings you as many festivities as there are official languages. And more!

Spring will soon blossom, and thinking ahead is crucial if you want to attend some of South Africa's best events. Whether you want to bring the whole family along or you just want to enjoy some time alone, this year’s spring events cater for everyone's need.

From fynbos to chocolate, here is your quintessential Spring events guide for Cape Town and surrounds:  

1. Hopefield Fynbos show 2019

The annual Hopefield Fynbos Show is one of the largest community events in the town. Every year volunteers from the town are involved in the collection of the plants. The fair places emphasis on the protection of the fynbos biosphere in and around Hopefield.

When: 29 August- 1 September 2019

2. Groot Constantia Wine Tasting and Tours

The oldest wine producing estate in South Africa offers a variety of wines for tasting. Go grab a few glasses with a group of friends and indulge and unwind with stunning views of the farm and area.

3. The Chocolate Festival

If you are a sugar fanatic, this two-day chocolate extravaganza is for you. Expect a variety of chocolate balanced out by savoury goodies like pizza for those that can’t take the sugary rush.

4. Cape Town International Film Market and Festival

There will be dozens of festivities, ranging from open air film screenings to educational talks on film, workshops with famous film directors, informal receptions with guest celebrities to live entertainment, and more.

When: 12- 21 October 2019

Where: V&A Waterfront

Cost: R50 per ticket.

5. Cape Town International Kite Festival

Go fly a kite in support of mental health! Enjoy professional kite displays and stunts or join in on the kite making workshop. (All proceeds go to Cape Mental Health).

When: 26-27 October 2019.

6. Hermanus Whale Festival

Welcome spring by celebrating the return of the Southern Right Whales, you can also enjoy music but the whales are always ready to perform for onlookers.

7. Benguela Cove Private Vineyard Tour

9. Rocking the Daisies

South Africa’s biggest three-day music experience, featuring nine stages and a line-up of international headliners is a must do! You are guaranteed an unforgettable experience whatever your taste.
