Singapore Airlines launches new Cape Town direct flight to Asia
Cape Town - Singapore Airlines in collaboration with Cape Town Air Access, a division of Wesgro, has officially launched its A35O-9OO flights from Cape Town to Singapore, via Johannesburg on Sunday, 30 October.
With the new flights, travellers will be able to connect to Singapore's Changi Airport - voted the best airport in the world - directly from Cape Town International via OR Tambo.
More excitingly, the flights will be operated on the airline's new A35O-9OOs, launched in June this year.
The move to include Cape Town in the direct flight from SA to Asia was announced earlier this year when the A35O-9OOs were commissioned for the Johannesburg - Singapore route. At the time, Singapore Airline also said they will be increasing the frequency of flights to seven per week. These plans are yet to be rolled out.
For now, the Cape Town - Singapore flights will operate every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Passengers will be able to enjoy new cabin products on the A350-900 aircraft including new Business, Premium Economy and Economy class seats, as well as the award-winning KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system and first-class in-flight service.
"We have listened to the requests from our travellers and travel trade partners for more Business Class capacity and a Premium Economy product and these are now offered in the new aircraft."
Cape Town Air Access is a collaboration between the Western Cape Government, the City of Cape Town, the Airports Company of South Africa and Cape Town Tourism to improve air connectivity in the Cape. It works on international air route development through joint marketing and networking opportunities.
In June this year, the organisation also said it was prioritsing the landing of a non-stop flight between Miami, Florida in the United States and Cape Town, in a bid to improve economic opportunities between to the two cities.
