WATCH | A short break on the West Coast

If you're short on time but in desperate need of a holiday, the West Coast is a short enough distance from Cape Town to drive but far enough to feel like you're in a completely different world.

And just past Langebaan there are three destinations with ample activities that you can even do in a day - if you're really rushed for time - or you can dive into each at length with a more leisurely long weekend.

Step into the past at the upgraded West Coast Fossil Park, spend your day in luxury at the soon-to-be 5-star Shelley Point Hotel among its jungle/roman/burlesque-mix decor and take a detour to Velddrif's famous Bokkomlaan for a drink on a jetty and a cruise down Berg Rivier.

On the West Coast there's something for everyone - and there's even more to explore if you've got more time on your hands.
