Take a Hike: The podcast series for hiking and adventure enthusiasts

Regular walking or weekend hiking escapes are a way of life for so many of us.

And South Africa is truly a hiker's paradise - awash with trails that transcend the sheer beauty of nature, being both cathartic and energising at the same time.

Home to its own Cape Camino, the Garden Route's Otter Trail, as well as firm favourites like Lion's Head and the lesser-known Crayfish Trail along the West Coast - there is a hike to suit your level of fitness and endurance.

Locally, the options are vast. Yet our Southern African neighbours also offer up some extra-ordinary hikes like the Fish River Canyon to mention just one must-do border-crossing adventure.

And still, the love for hiking extends beyond whether you're young or old, have a penchant for the active or simply need a little respite from your daily, stressful grind.

Most of us have, at one point or another, gone for a long, relaxing walk - and if anybody has done an Outlier's amount of hiking it would be Tim Lundy

As an accredited Mountain and Cultural guide and a volunteer with Wilderness search and rescue unit he has been traversing the Western Cape Mountains for over 37 years.

Together with his father, legendary hiking author Mike Lundy, Tim has helped establish many local hikes and walks. He has written his own walking book, Family Walks in Cape Town.

No stranger to radio either, local talent and Take a Hike podcast host, Mark Johnson chats to Tim in this four-part series to unravel all the hiking trips and tips for seasoned and would-be hiking enthusiasts alike.
