Lion shot after entering rest camp in the Kruger National Park
Early this morning, SANParks confirmed that a lion was shot after he entered the living quarters at the Kruger National Park's Berg en Dal Rest Camp. The lion posed an immediate threat to the people in the camp, and the safety of people were of the park's utmost concern.
The tweet was received with mixed reactions as many said that the ranger could've darted the lion instead of killing it. Many people were also unhappy with the use of the word 'destroyed' as it was used to describe the killing of an animal. This, SANParks apologised for later. Other tweeters said that shooting the animal must've been used as a very last resort.
SANParks also mentioned that a post mortem will still be done on the lion as he was not in a very good condition.
